Dietz Gallery was established in 2002 as a lobby gallery in the former Dietz Latern Building by Diane Suskoev, who also designed the space. The gallery ran for two years, featuring several group shows of mainly neighborhood artists. Karin Luner, artist and national adminitrator for the Women's Caucus for Art, took over the gallery in December 2005 and renamed it DietzSpace, conceptualizing the space as a springboard for artists to have a three-month long opportunity to showcase their work. She also switched from group shows to single artists exhibitions, focusing on artists who are under represented in the gallery system and whose art will work synergistically with the space. So far, each of selected artists have found a way to incorporate the exposed brick wall or the center arch of the lobby into their presentations. Inviting neighborhood artistis to participate is still a concern, however, the selection of quality work is a more decisive criteria in selecting her roster. If you are interested to show, please contact her. DietzSpace is open to the public during
regular business hours. You can email Karin Luner at dietzspace@gmail.com
